"They are absolutely wonderful, exactly what I had hoped for.
As you know, they are for a Lutheran Church. The members of the church have some military in them, but by and large, they aren't familiar with the coin concept. On one side of the coin you made, we had the "Lutheran Rose". There is symbolism in the rose, and it is more than just a decoration (though it does make a really cool looking side of coin!). It has spiritual meaning for a lot of Lutherans (the white rose, blue sky, red heart, black cross all mean something).

On the day I received the coins, I heard news that one of the members of our congregation was in the hospital, having been re-admitted after heart surgery. Things weren't going well, and this elderly man is alone. He has no local family. The people of the church are his local family. I swung by and quickly dropped a coin off for him right away. I left it with the nurse's station, and wasn't there when he received it.

Yesterday, I received an email from the church Pastor who had visited this man -- a former pastor -- in the hospital:

"...The coin was especially meaningful to him for two reasons, first Luther's rose is quite important to him, and it was there at just the perfect time when he got some very bad news about his kidneys shutting down. He told me he held onto that coin all afternoon and it brought him a great deal of comfort..."

Mr. Summerland was able to take a picture photo and power point presentation of what we wanted and transform into one of the most beautiful and desirable coins in our brigade. While stationed in Iraq, we were able to correspond back and forth via email to produce a high quality coin worth presenting to Soldiers. Even though we went through several different iterations, Merle did not get aggravated for even the slightest changes. Satisfaction was priority.
